Ever heard about Ayurveda, Yoga's sister science and the doshas, your unique constitution? 
Join certified Ayurvedic Practitioner, Ayurvedic Health Counselor, professional NAMA member and Yoga Teacher Tanja Bungardt-Price to learn all about the elements (earth, water, fire, air and ether), their qualities and your unique constitution in this two hour lecture. 
Understanding the doshas and imbalances will not only help you understand yourself and teach you how to balance yourself but also give you a better understanding of the unique needs of your clients. 
The three doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, are derived from the five elements. Also known as mind-body types, the doshas express unique blends of physical, emotional, and mental characteristics. 
We are all made up of a unique combination of these three forces (Vata, Pitta and Kapha). Though everyone has some of each, most people tend to have an abundance of one or two of the doshas. This unique combination is determined at the moment of conception, and is your own personal blueprint, or prakriti (nature). As you move through life, the proportion of each of the three doshas constantly fluctuates according to your environment, your diet, the seasons, the climate, your age, and many other factors. As they move into and out of balance, the doshas can affect your health, energy level, and general mood. 
You can achieve and maintain a vibrant and joyful state of health by identifying your mind-body type and creating a lifestyle that supports your unique nature. You will leave the lecture with an understanding of the elements, doshas and an understanding of what makes us all unique and how we can be happy and healthy using tools like diet, herbs, lifestyle, yoga, meditation and more. 
This lecture includes a Dosha quiz! 
The quiz is fun and gives you a general idea, however to really find out your Dosha (prakriti) and Imbalances (vikriti) you will need to make an appointment with a Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner. 
The second lecture will teach you to understand anxiety, stress, depression and PTSD from an Ayurvedic point of view.

The lecture will include specific tools and recommendations of food, herbs,

Pitta is one of the three doshas (constitutions/prakruti). Summer is Pitta time, when the fire element easily gets imbalanced. 
Composed of fire and water, Pitta dosha governs metabolism and transformation in the body, including digestion. Pitta is associated with heat, and its effects are especially felt during the hot summer, from July to October. Whether you have a lot of Pitta in your constitution or not, you need to pay attention to pacifying Pitta during the summer.

Learn in the two hour lecture how to stay balanced in your fire element during this challenging time and how to do a gentle detox to get inflammation and general heat and fire element out of your body!

September  is time for a summer cleanse. According to Ayurveda, health is our natural, balanced state. Ayurveda defines the many substances and influences, both internal and external, that are beneficial and detrimental to our bodies. While avoiding every substance or situation that is unhealthy is nearly impossible in today's world, the wisdom of Ayurveda can boost your understanding of health and support choices that lead to a balanced state of being. Ayurveda offers knowledge to increase awareness of the factors that may cause imbalance and ways to create balance by regulating the systems of the body through diet, lifestyle, herbs, yoga and meditation.

The Ayurvedic scope of health is holistic, encompassing a balanced body, mind, and spirit. The experiences we have in our relationships, including thoughts, feelings and emotions, can be equally as influential on our state of health as are foods and other ingested substances.

Signs of an aggravated Pitta include excess stomach acid, heartburn, skin eruptions, any kind of inflammations, anger and irritability. Following a Pitta-pacifying diet, herbs, life style regiments, yoga, meditation and many other tools can help keep this fiery element in balance.
